The 1987 Constitutional Accord, commonly known as the Meech Lake Accord, was a failed package of Canadian constitutional amendments intended to persuade Quebec to formally endorse the 1982 Constitution by recognizing it as a "distinct society" and adjusting federal-provincial powers.
