The Ottoman–Wahhabi War was a series of early 19th-century military campaigns in the Arabian Peninsula in which the Ottoman Empire, largely through its Egyptian vassal, sought to suppress the expansionist Wahhabi movement and reassert imperial control over the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
